Jebel Akhdar translates as ”Green Mountain” and describes the green terraces below this village on the edge of the plateau of the same name. Dates, figs and many other fruits grow here, fed by the springs and al falajs draining the 6,000 foot high plateau. Cool, even at the height of summer, there are a number of beautiful villages tucked into wadis, making the whole area well worth visiting since it is less than 2 hours drive from Muscat along first-class roads.
