| One of the most extraordinary and immediately accessible deserts in the Middle East lies just two hours drive from Muscat along first class roads. The regular North-South orientation of its dunes which have, on their East side, an almost sheer climb of 200 feet or more, allow some of the best off-road driving experiences in the world. Never has a speed of just a few kilometres an hour been so exhilarating as you pit your skill against soft sand and steep inclines in your four-wheel drive vehicle. There are several camps in the Remal Al Sharqia Sands so that visitors can linger to enjoy the glorious sunsets which are such a feature of the desert experience. | |||
