| This extraordinary space in the centre of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is 70 metres square and can hold up to 7,000 worshippers. Its immense carpet, with a truly beautiful design, covers the entire floor and is of one piece. It took 600 weavers, from Khurasan in Iran, several years to complete and contains 1.7 billion knots. The amazing chandelier hanging from the top of the highly decorated and ornate dome completes an experience that is totally awe-inspiring for the visitor. | |||
